Strauss Consultants, Inc has an extensive history in the U.S. book market with experience in sales, marketing and publicity. We are an independent group who works with U.S. and international publishers to maximize their sales potential and distribution needs. Karen Strauss founded Strauss in l991 to service small publishers who needed representation into the large chain and wholesaler book accounts around the country. In the ensuing years the group enlarged their account base to include specialty wholesalers and retailers. Principal: Karen Strauss has worked in book publishing since l981, when she started at Bantam Books as a senior publicist. She then moved on to The Free Press division of Macmillan (now Simon and Schuster) where she climbed the ladder of success to become its Director of Trade Marketing. She directed and managed marketing campaigns for what would become the leading publisher of social science and political books. In l988 Karen joined Crown Publishing as Sales Manager where she directed a sales force of 20 reps while also selling national accounts. Finally she became National Sales Manager at Avon Books where she managed 17 in-house field reps and two key account managers.
